ETIAS Travel Authorization for Venezuelan Citizens
All citizens of Venezuela are eligible to travel in the Schengen Zone without restriction because they are part of the European Visa-Exempt Program. The EU announced the launch of the ETIAS, which will affect all visa-exempt travelers, even Venezuelans, beginning May 2025. This means that Venezuelan citizens will need to register online once ETIAS has been fully implemented. ETIAS is an EU intergovernmental legislative initiative aiming to improve member countries’ security. This is achieved by the ETIAS program, which requires travelers from eligible countries (including Venezuelan citizens)
to register on our website for a digital travel permit before they travel to Europe from Venezuela. All information provided by Venezuelan citizens when submitting their ETIAS form will be compared against multiple security databases to screen applicants for entry to the Schengen Area. This pre-screening will simplify security checks for access to the Schengen Area. As of May 2025, the changes that make ETIAS mandatory for Venezuelan citizens who wish to travel to Schengen countries will be in effect.
How do Venezuelans Prepare before they travel to Europe
Residents of Venezuela do not need to apply for visas to enter the Schengen Area for short-term stays. They are allowed entry to any Schengen country and unlimited freedom of movement between member states if they have a valid passport.
However, travelers exempt from visa requirements will be subject to an additional requirement at the end of 2025. All citizens of Venezuela will be required to obtain an online travel authorization before they depart towards any Schengen country once ETIAS is fully implemented.
Venezuelan passport holders who want to travel to Europe must present a valid passport with a minimum of three months remaining.
All Venezuelan citizens will have to register for an ETIAS Visa Waiver starting May 2025. To obtain an approved ETIAS, you must pay the visa-waiver fees using a credit card or debit card and have a valid email address. The approved travel authorization for Venezuela will be sent to Venezuelan passport holders via secure email to the electronic address entered during the application process.

ETIAS Application For Venezuelans traveling to Europe
All Venezuelan citizens should be aware of the ETIAS program. They can apply online for their Schengen Area trip by using online. ETIAS grants Venezuelan citizens free entry to all Schengen Area member states.
With an approved ETIAS from Venezuela, travelers who visit Europe may spend up to 90 consecutive days in Schengen member countries with this travel authorization.
ETIAS allows travelers from eligible countries to enter the country listed above for three years after approval. If the validity period of ETIAS expires before the travel authorization expires, the travel authorization is automatically null.
Venezuelan citizens in the following situations should request a Schengen visa rather than an ETIAS waiver.
• To visit Schengen for business or work purposes
• Studying in a Schengen country for over three months consecutively in 6 months within the Schengen Area
• You are moving to a Schengen state or wish to stay longer than the 90-day limit.
• Visit any European country which has not yet signed the Schengen accord, such as the UK, Croatia, Bulgaria or Cyprus, Romania, or Ireland.
ETIAS Security Procedures for Venezuelan Citizens
After being screened by EU immigration officials and border control, the ETIAS visa waiver allows Venezuelan nationals entry and travel to any territory in the Schengen accord. To maintain the highest level of security in the area, applicants' information will be checked against several security databases like Interpol and the ETIAS watchlist.
Data will be cross-checked with other databases such as SIS, VIS, and Europol. To prevent individuals from entering Schengen, they will likely deny an ETIAS to anyone suspected of criminal activity.
The security measures outlined above are in place to identify illegal entry and prevent identity theft. If the applicant is involved in significant criminal activity, an ETIAS visa waiver will be denied. The ETIAS system detects and prevents terrorist threats and human trafficking.
...
Particular countries can still allow entry for travelers with a history of minor criminal offenses. But, Venezuelans with severe criminal records or who have been convicted of issues related to drugs or violence will likely be denied entry into most Schengen nations. There are certain restrictions on luggage when traveling to Europe from Venezuela. People should not travel with explosives, firearms, drugs, or other prohibited or restricted items. Other items, such as alcohol or tobacco, are also limited.
ETIAS Visa Waiver Requirement for Venezuelan Nationals
Venezuelan passport holders who wish to travel to Europe for tourism purposes for less than three months can apply online for an ETIAS visa waiver. The online application process for an ETIAS visa waiver is simple and does not require visiting an embassy or consulate.
After the ETIAS is fully operational, Venezuelan citizens must fill out an online application form. This form will contain their travel details and personal information. They will be asked to answer a few security and health questions to gain admission to the Schengen Area.
Filling out the application form is simple and should take less than 10 minutes. When filling out the ETIAS form, Venezuelan citizens will be asked for information such as:
• Your full name as it appears on the first page of your Venezuelan passport
• Information about passports, such as country, date of issuance and expiration, and number
• Plan your travel, including the country of destination and arrival date
Venezuelan citizens who complete the ETIAS form must provide the following information:
• A valid passport
• A current email address, which will allow them to send a digital version of their visa waiver securely
• To cover ETIAS fees, a debit or credit card is required
Most applications can usually be completed in less than 10 minutes. They will be processed electronically within 72 hours. ETIAS requires that you pay a one-time issuance fee. This can be paid with a debit or credit card.
Venezuelan citizens who plan to travel to Schengen countries should regularly check this page for any updates on this European travel authorization, including special passport conditions and payment options. Dual citizenship Venezuelans are reminded that ETIAS cannot be transferred and is electronically linked to the passport used to apply. Visitors with multiple nationalities must travel in the same passport as the one used to apply for ETIAS.
Before an ETIAS applicant is granted electronic authorization to travel to Europe, all data (including Venezuelan passport holders) will have to be subject to a prescreening process. These background checks and online registrations were created to enhance the security of member states and prevent individuals from entering the Schengen Area that could threaten the EU’s security.
After a citizen’s travel authorization has been approved, it will be valid for three years or until the passport associated with the citizen’s ETIAS ends, whichever comes first.
The approved ETIAS will go to the candidate’s email address in digital format. To allow processing, screening, and delivery time, all Venezuelan citizens who want to travel to Europe should apply for an ETIAS visa waiver at least three days before their departure date.
