Mauritian Citizens' ETIAS Requirements
Schengen comprises 26 European countries, including France, Spain, Greece, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Austria, and the Netherlands. At the moment, Mauritius citizens do not require a visa to enter the Schengen Area. They are permitted to stay in the region for up to 90 days for tourist and commercial purposes.
The rules for traveling in the Schengen zone should change in late 2025 with the implementation of ETIAS.
After launch, ETIAS will be an essential legal requirement for Mauritius people seeking entry to the Schengen Area. Mauritian nationals will be required to submit an online application for an ETIAS travel authorization. Along with Mauritian citizens, citizens of the other 61 countries will be required to submit an online application for the ETIAS travel permission.

How to Apply from Mauritius for ETIAS
One of the benefits of qualifying for ETIAS is that qualified passengers only have a smartphone, tablet, or computer with an Internet connection.
Mauritius citizens can apply online in less than 10 minutes. Each candidate is required to respond to a series of security and eligibility questions on their medical history, previous travel to combat zones, and criminal history.
Mauritius ETIAS applicants will need to pay the cost of the application with a debit or credit card prior to applying. Applicants should declare the country they wish to enter for the first time and supply the information provided above (name, residential address, birthday, etc.). The applicant’s passport must be valid at the time of application.
After submitting the online application form, all data collected from the applicant will be reviewed and compared to multiple security databases. This information will assist the ETIAS system in identifying the traveler.
Mauritian citizens will be contacted through email at the address provided on their application if they are granted. Their passport will be electronically connected to their authorized ETIAS.
When visiting the Schengen Area, Mauritius people should remember that accession to the EU is not guaranteed. While ETIAS is a condition for admission, the border officials make the final decision to permit entry upon arrival. In rare instances, the traveler may be requested to demonstrate that they have no intention of staying longer than necessary in the region.
Among the proof that may be required are the following:
• A round-trip flight to Mauritius
• Evidence of short-term residency
• Sufficient funds to sustain the individual during their stay
Traveling with ETIAS from Mauritius to Europe
The ETIAS visa waiver for Mauritanians will be valid for three consecutive years if authorized.
The visa waiver permits the holder to enter any Schengen Area nation; there is no restriction to the number of times the holder may enter the region as long as the stay does not exceed 90 days in 180 days.
Passports must be valid for a minimum of three months beyond the scheduled date of arrival. If the applicant’s passport is nearing its expiration date, they should apply for a new one before completing the ETIAS application.
Mauritians' ETIAS Application
Mauritius citizens are asked to give their full name, birthdate, passport details, residential address, and additional information like working experience and travel itinerary when completing the online ETIAS application form.
Additionally, the ETIAS application form includes several security questions.
It is critical to respond truthfully to all questions. Providing false or missing information may result in the visa waiver application being refused. Additionally, applicants are recommended to answer all security questions truthfully.
Cross-checking of data will occur with large-scale security systems such as EURODAC, Europol, and the Visa Information System VIS.
Citizens of Mauritius traveling to Europe are urged to complete the online application at least 72 hours before departure.
